2010 Predictions, a Look Ahead

Happy New Year, everyone. Here’s hoping that you all had lovely holidays and are rested and ready as we all embark on 2010.
In that spirit, a round-up of predictions and looks ahead at 2010 might be in order. Let’s start with CFO, which takes a look back at 2009 to explore what we’re likely to see in 2010. In CFO’s retrospective, they highlight some recent pieces on risk that warrant another look – like this one, which shows how much improvement companies can stand to make in risk management strategies. As for 2010, they’ve got some eye-catching speculation – namely, that health reform might mean an end to employer-sponsored health-care. Oh boy.
Compliance Week has a characteristically thorough analysis of the top issues likely to occupy their readership in the coming year, from changes to international accounting standards to the likely impact of the economic crisis on corporate tax enforcement (read: companies should be very careful, as cash-strapped governments are looking for every penny) to valuation, legal decisions to watch, and the uncertain road ahead for the PCAOB. The broad range of these concerns is, as Compliance Week points out, a trend itself – evidence of the increasingly holistic approach that companies are taking to address financial and compliance concerns as part of overall risk management.
We’re not in the crystal-ball business ourselves, but we feel pretty safe in saying that we see a great deal of growth potential in 2010 for Continuous Controls Monitoring, as more companies realize the value of real-time visibility into their operations – not just for compliance, but for risk reduction and improved efficiency across the organization.
We’re looking forward to being a part of that conversation, and we hope you’ll stick around and engage with us.
