Wa-wonh: Latest from the Debbie Downer Daily News

Hoo boy, is there ever a slew of not-great news out this week. Like this bit from Accountancy Age (via Accounts Round Up) on how one in five accountants is reporting feeling the effects of The Downturn. (Don’t say the R Word . . . ). In keeping with our theme, Accountants Round Up also has the not-so-goods on word from Accountancy Age on another downturn — this one in recruitment at accounting firms. So much for all the hype about that “accountant shortage.”
And things aren’t all that much better in the C-suite, apparently. Especially for folks whose companies have had to file financial restatements.
Finally, and perhaps most depressing of all, Reuters has a piece examining disclosure requirements and expectations for executives who may or may not be facing serious health problems. Oy.
